The Sierra School of Todos Santos, Mexico

2015 National Immediate Need Fund
Picture
The Sierra School of Todos Santos is a grassroots, educational project (of The French non profit organization, Les Ponts de la Sierra) set to open in 2015-16. It is a secondary school program for college-bound Mexican and international youth in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Sierra School learning program will be modeled on the IB, International Baccalaureate, seeking accreditation by the IB as well as The Mexican government (SEP). Molly Lou Freeman and Fabrice Serriere lived in Todos Santos, Mexico, on a teaching sabbatical year in 2014. Mexican and international families, kids and professionals alike solicited them as experienced teachers to create a secondary school. As multi-lingual, international teachers with long term family ties to Mexico, they will build bridges between the multicultural populations in Todos Santos by providing educational resources, setting learning standards and contributing their professional skills and vision to the future of developing Mexico. Funds from the INF went towards shipping costs of books and learning equipment to Mexico.
