Rose Dobbins, Canton, OH

2013 Canton Immediate Need Fund Recipient
Rose is going through a very difficult time. A victim of domestic violence, she sought help from  DVPI and is in the process of a very messy divorce. She has three children, ages 1, 3 and 5 and stays home with them with no source of income besides her alimony. She has been struggling to make ends meet. She’s from Europe, with no family here. She moved here to be close to her sister and her family. Her sister was Andrea Domotor. Andrea and her husband had three children. Andrea’s husband passed away unexpectedly five years ago (brain aneurism). Andrea had also been in poor health, but was expected to pull through it. She unexpectedly passed away as well, and her children are now orphans. The kids are 10, 12 and 15 years old. Rose has taken in the children and is providing for them as well, even during her own struggles. They have no other family in the country. Rose wants to do it all and support all of the children but is struggling to meet all of their needs while going through her own troubles. All seven currently reside together in a tiny apartment. Rose is trying to find a home that will be safe for all the children. She needs help with daily living expenses.  Rose is overwhelmed by the community support and would be quite grateful for any assistance we could provide. She seems to have a hard time asking for help, but knows she is in a tough spot right now.
