The River Community Wellness Program provides intensive outpatient treatment for soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder and other anxiety related disorders. This wellness program is located at River Hospital and is unique to the nation. Treatment involves both individual and group therapy and focuses on education as well as art and activity therapy. Betterment supported activity therapy by providing 6 fishing rods, life jackets, and a day of fishing with guides for the soldiers and their therapists. Research suggests that fishing is a therapeutic activity that would greatly benefit those taking part in the program.  In 2015, Betterment donated $1000 for a shore dinner for the soldiers with PTSD.
