Project Children, Washington, DC & Northern Ireland
2005 Blarney Ball Recipient
Betterment was proud to join Stout Hearts in sponsoring the 2005 Blarney Ball and contributing to Project Children. Over the past eight years, the Blarney Ball has raised more than $150,000 for Project Children to help hundreds of children from Northern Ireland- both Protestant and Catholic- get the opportunity to spend their summers with families in the United States. Each year, the Washington program hosts approximately 60 children, who range in age from 11 to 16 years old. The children come from neighborhoods in which the Protestant- Catholic conflict has taken an especially heavy toll. Although their visits are short, the children who participate return to Ireland with new friends, great memories, and a better understanding of each other.
“We were looking for a strong partner to help with the 2005 Blarney Ball and Betterment was the perfect fit for us,” said Kristin Leary, Co-Chair of Blarney Ball 2005 Host Committee.
