Paula Triscaro, Bainbridge/Chagrin, OH
2008 Cleveland Black and White Ball Recipient
Late last year, Paula suffered a massive heart attack that stopped the flow of oxygen to her brain for a period of time. While she received treatment for the heart attack that saved her, the lack of oxygen to her brain resulted in trauma that destroyed her enjoyment of life. She no longer had the use of her limbs, could barely communicate to those around her, and needed 24 hour care 7 days a week with every aspect of her life. This devastating illness left her husband and children as the primary caregivers for Paula and because of the never-ending amount of time and responsibilities that this type of care giving demands, had completely changed their way of life. The donation from Betterment helped with the cost of in-home nursing care so that Joe could be free for a couple of hours each day to re-establish his business and once again earn an income to support the extraordinary needs that his wife required.
