Nancy Temple, Cleveland, OH
2010 Cleveland Black & White Ball Recipient
Nancy suffered a near-fatal car accident, leaving her in chronic pain and discomfort. She had also been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and diabetes. In 2008, her husband was also the victim of a serious car accident, leaving Nancy as the sole caregiver and provider for the family. Nancy was a 27-year volunteer and long-time member of the Board of Trustees for WomenSafe, a domestic violence shelter in Chardon. Proving that she emulated the "ripple effect", Nancy had helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for WomenSafe including the funding for a state-of-the-art resource center called "The Green House". Funds raised at the Black and White ball helped offset Nancy's household expenses that had been mounting due to her husband's accident and allow her to devote more time and resources to WomenSafe, a cause that mattered so much to her.
