2009 Cleveland Black & White Ball Recipient

With a successful heart transplant behind her, Monyata and her family continued to struggle with the financial strain caused by her illness.  Monyata and her family had been heavily involved in the community.  She had been noinated to be an ambassador for American Heart Association.  Monyata and her husband both participated in Inner-city Basketball through the YMCA in Toledo.  Funds raised at the Black and White ball helped relieve that financial burden for Monyata, her husband and their seven children.

We were saddened to learn that Monyata passed away in Dec. 2016.
