Mitchell Brown, Chicago, IL
2009 Chicago Holiday Party Recipient
Mitchell was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in April, 2009. Unfortunately, chemotherapy had not been successful. Mitchell was undergoing a stem cell transplant, which was his only chance for survival. Due to his rigorous treatment schedule and frequent hospital stays, Mitchell had to leave his career in architecture. Mitchell's wife, Jill, needed to take on primary responsibility for the household and family, which included 3-year-old son Jack and newborn Sydney. Throughout this hardship, Mitchell maintained an inspiring positive outlook about his future. He'd become an advocate for the National Donor Registry which might offer a cure for him the in the future, but would also help countless other individuals fighting life-threatening illnesses. A donation from Betterment helped the Brown family with household and medical expenses.
