Mikaela Penaflor is 19 years old and was born with Spina bifida. Mikaela can walk with leg braces and a cane, but only for short distances. Since graduating high school last year, she has just been at home and not able to take classes or work. Since her most immediate desire is to drive, which she is allowed to do with a hand controlled vehicle, proceeds from the Betterment Bash went towards outfitting a car with special hand controls.
