Michelle Stallings, Arnold, MD

2014 Immediate Need Recipient
Michelle Stallings is a mother of two young children that is in a financial crisis. Michelle and her two children are currently renting a condo. She is a social worker for the Department of Aging and Disabilities, with in the Anne Arundel County Govt. She has been at her current position since 2006; she has been in this field her entire adult life since graduating UMBC.  Michelle’s specific job title is ‘Ombudsman’ she is the patient advocate for elderly people of all walks of life that enter into nursing homes and medical facilities. She sees to it that our elderly residents get the care they deserve and makes sure they are treated fairly. She travels around the county daily investigating complaints and following up with patients and their families as well as dealing with facility management and medical staff to ensure proper care is given to the elderly. Michelle is a hardworking, health conscious, single mother that tries very hard to provide for her children and give them the things they need. Unfortunately she has tried to get assistance through government organizations but has been repeatedly told she is just over the income threshold to qualify. Monies from the Immediate Need Fund went towards paying one month of rent so Michelle and her children continue to have a place to live.
