Sharon Hurst was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor three years ago and had not been able to work in reception at the River Clinic for the past eight months.  They discovered spots on the other side of her brain.  She and her husband Mark were raising their niece who was in Middle School. Given all their medical expenses, the Hurst Family was behind on their  living expenses.  Money raised at the 2011 paddle went towards alleviating some of the burden on their family.
