Macsherry Library, Alexandria Bay, NY
5th Annual Alexandria Bay Paddle Recipient
The Macsherry Library has provided the adults and children of Alexandria Bay, NY, access to reading for many years. In 2005, they embarked on a project to renovate the library, as well as grow the number of books available to patrons.
More than 80 guests at the 5th Annual Paddle for Betterment joined together to raise funds for the library’s new outdoor reading garden. This new area would provide space for children’s story hour and a place where people of all ages can enjoy reading outdoors.
“This addition is going to be a wonderful resource for everyone in the community and we couldn’t have completed it without the donation from Betterment,” said Tom Mitchell, President of the Macsherry Library Board of Trustees. The reading garden is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2006 and will include a plaque dedicated to the Foundation that describes the Betterment mission and encourages visitors to better their communities.
