Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, Cleveland, OH
2007 Cleveland Black & White Ball Recipient
The Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) helps people who are oppressed, forgotten, and hurting. The LMM's Cleveland homeless shelter serves more than 500 men per day, and hands out 400,000 meals annually. Our support helped the LMM finance two proposed community projects: a community garden two blocks from the shelter and transportation assistance for shelter residents. The ongoing garden project helped build relationships with residents, volunteers, and businesses in order to show the community the assets of the residents. Transportation assistance provided to-and-from access for medical appointments, training classes and job interviews, all of which helped the men live a healthy and self-sufficient life.
