Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program, Ellicottville, NY
2nd Annual Buffalo Moe Dixon Concert Recipient
The Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Programs (LASP) for Physically and Mentally Challenged Individuals was founded in 1988 in memory of Bill Lounsbury, a long time volunteer member of the Holiday Valley Ski Patrol, who lost his leg, and, ultimately, his life to cancer.
The organization offers lessons to persons afflicted with over a dozen maladies including spinal chord injuries, amputation, MS, Downs Syndrome and visual impairment. Last year LASP initiated a special program for returning, disabled veterans for the Iraq War as well as Afghanistan, the Gulf War, Vietnam and even Korea.
Betterment raised $2,000 at the Moe Dixon Concert to go toward the purchase of two snow sliders.
