Loretta Carnahan, Hartville, OH
2016 Canton Immediate Need Recipient
Seventeen years ago, Loretta lost her 17-year-old daughter in a car accident. Because she did not have insurance, she paid for her daughter’s medical bills with her savings and credit cards. This caused her family to go into bankruptcy and they eventually lost their home. This December, Loretta lost her son, Todd Powell, after a year long battle with cancer. Before cancer, Todd battled with addiction issues. He had been clean for over a year and was getting his life back on track when the cancer struck. Despite all of this tragedy in her life, Loretta has a beautiful spirit and demeanor. She is kind, generous, hard-working, and a truly caring person. Monies from the Canton Fund went towards funeral expenses.
