2009 Chicago Cinco de Mayo Recipient

Katie, Christopher and Steven tragically lost both of their parents this past March.  Their mother lost a 5 year battle to T Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia Lymphpma (a rare blood cancer) due to complications from a stem cell transplant.  Their father, who suffered for 15 years with Myasthenia Gravis (a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease) died from a massive hearth attack.  At the age of 18, Chris was diagnosed with Non-hodgkins Lymphoma.  The donation from Betterment helped to relieve some of the financial burden that these three children had been facing as well as exemplify the support that exists within the Chicago community.
