Laura Mannas was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis in late 2007. The TM has left her in much pain and very week, so she was unable to work, and was without insurance. On top of that, Laura had a 7 year old son, Andrew, who she was supporting with intermittent help from her ex-husband.
Laura became a mother at a very young age, 19, and had a short-lived marriage, and has since spent most of her time focusing on caring for, and supporting, Andrew.
Funds raised to support Laura covered her rent and a car payment so that she could focus on getting better.
