Cooking with Cuyahoga Kids, Rocky River, OH
2016 Cleveland Bash Recipient
Cooking with Cuyahoga Kids is a community program that provides children aging out of foster care with instruction on making healthy food choices, basic cooking techniques, and kitchen safety skills to better prepare them for independent living. The program increases the self-sufficiency, self-worth and social skills of its participants while combating potential future health problems. Funds were used to cover the costs of a single-day program for ten children. This involves a lesson on buying groceries, including nutritional options and managing limited funds, and a cooking lesson where the children learn how to safely prepare a healthy meal.
