2015 Chippewa Bay Paddle for a Purpose Recipient
Many families in the North Country are not able to provide quality experiences to their children because of lack of funds. By sponsoring a child to go to a weeklong summer camp in the Adirondacks through the Chippewa Bay and Black Lake Fish & Game Clubs, we can help provide the quality growing experience that so many kids miss out on due to financial stress. Affording kids the opportunity to be on their own in a structured, supportive, supervised and adventurous environment should be promoted and encouraged. Time away from parents provides an opportunity for young kids to take initiative, exercise their autonomy and develop leadership skills – even critical thinking, problem solving and social skills, which contribute greatly to their self-esteem and overall quality of life. It also encourages appreciation for the life-long organizations that make our communities so great so that they will remember to give back to those who have given so much to them. Funds from the paddle went towards sponsoring children to go to camp.
