Canines Helping Independent People (CHIP), Canton, OH
2015 Canton Betterment Bash Recipient
Established in 1997, the non-profit Canines Helping Independent People (CHIP) is a service dog program that also uses its resources, volunteers, and expertise to educate and help the community. CHIP places dogs not only with children and adults with mobility limitations but also with veterans suffering from PTSD, people with certain psychiatric conditions, and healthcare and nursing facilities that need therapy dogs for their residents. Betterment Bash's efforts helped CHIP pay for expensive veterinary care and purchase service dog capes and harnesses.
