The Barker Family, Arnold, MD
2019 Megan Kolb INF and National INF
16 year old Preston Barker was skateboarding in his neighborhood this summer when he was startled by a car and took a terrible fall. He was flown to shock trauma at Johns Hopkins with life threatening injuries. He spent 3 weeks at shock trauma and another 2 weeks at Kennedy Krieger Brain Institute's inpatient rehab center.
From Preston's mom, Marie, "Thank you so much! I was so worried. This is a huge relief! Preston is doing great! We got home a couple of weeks ago and he is making so much progress! He is still on blood thinners to prevent clots for another month or so. He will still need surgery to restore hearing in his left ear, but that's small potatoes! He's in therapy for balance and vision things, but he's making strides every visit! He will start school on time which is huge!!" Funds from the Megan Kolb INF and National INF went towards helping with mortgage, electric bill, car payment, and grocery gift cards. |
