Amelia, Chicago, IL

2009 Chicago Marathon Recipient

Amelia was the beautiful three-year-old daughter of Brian Seiwert and Laura Zigan.  Amelia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) in September 2008 and underwent a year of intensive chemotherapy with multiple hospitalizations.  Her family and doctors were feeling really positive about how Amelia was responding to the chemo and feeling optimistic about her prognosis.  While they have health insurance, the co-pays, parking, and meals at the hospital were taking a financial toll.  The donation from Betterment helped relieve some of the financial pressures weighing on Brian and Laura and allowed them to focus on loving and supporting their sweet daughter. 

Sadly, Amelia passed away on December 31, 2009.
