Sheldon Moot is a patrolman for the Alexandria Bay Police Department. Sheldon has worked as part of other police departments in the past. One of the programs that he ran, that still exists today at another municipality, is a program that supplies kids in need with proper helmets for riding their bikes. Helmets of various sizes are kept in the trunks of the local patrol cars. As a patrolman finds kids riding bikes without helmets, they stop to talk about proper safety and speak to the kids’ parents. If the families / kids financially need help, then the officer provides the child with a properly fitted helmet out of the back of the patrol car.
 
The local chapter donated funds to purchase 25 helmets to help get this program started for the Village of Alexandria Bay.
