Kris is a local nurse and mother to Sofia. In January 2023, Sofia was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer of which only 350 cases are diagnosed nationally each year. Kris stopped working upon Sofia's diagnoses to take on Sofia's care, hospital stays, and outpatient chemotherapy treatments. Losing one income and the increased costs associated with Sofia's care, including frequent trips to the children's hospital in DC, put a financial strain on the Delgados. Through the Annapolis Bash, the Annapolis Chapter was able to provide mortgage support and a grocery gift card. We are happy to report that Sofia is in remission!
