Mr. Kevin Slate is battling stage 4 thyroid cancer and has cancerous tumors in his throat and lungs that are inoperable. His specialists are located 3.5 hours away that, combined with Mr. Slate’s inability to work as much as he did before his cancer diagnoses, puts a financial burden on the family. Mrs. Slate is battling her own health issues, one of which is caused by the unhealthy water available at their home. Using funds from the Hammond Chapter INF, the Alex Bay Chapter was able to cover the entire purchase and install of a new water filtration system for the Slate Family and provide gas and grocery gift cards.
