Laetitia is a single mother who has worked in the mortgage and real estate industry for years A longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society in West Palm Beach, she supports and inspires those with heart disease. Last year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The economy and real estate environment caused her to lose her job and her health insurance. The loss of her health insurance delayed her initial treatment. Being unemployed and having lost insurance benefits impacted the pace of her treatment and caused serious financial issues and as a result, she was unable to maintain her rental house.
In the past few months, Laetitia's health has improved but her ongoing treatment has allowed her to work only part time in a commission only sales position. Her physical, emotional and financial situation has only marginally improved and she is in need of immediate medical and financial support. The donation from Betterment will assist Laetitia in the payment of her monthly bills so she can focus on her follow up care to treat her cancer.
